As someone who often takes walks in the park, what I find myself paying attention to each time isn’t just the beautiful gardens or the well-maintained facilities that make up the park—but rather, the people who are asleep in uncomfortable positions or drinking alone.
They usually don’t stay in the newly renovated, clean, and pleasant parks,but instead linger in the old ones—loose, worn, and unkempt.
During the busy midday hours, when most people are caught up in work, school, or other obligations,the park belongs to them.
They are often alone, lost in thought with tightly shut lips,or asleep in a drunken haze, sometimes even sharing a quiet moment with pigeons.
And at such times, I can’t help but noticehow lonely the color green can be.(Artist Note)
공원에 자주 산책을 하는 사람으로서 산책할 때마다 눈여겨 보는 것은
공원을 이루는 아름다운 정원과 잘 가꿔진 시설들도 있지만
그것보다 불편한 잠에 빠져있거나 술을 마시는 사람들이다.
그들은 보통 새로 단장한 깨끗하고 쾌적한 공원이 아닌
오래되고 느슨하며 정돈되지 않는 낡은 공원에 머문다.
대부분의 사람들이 업무나 학업, 또는 다른 많은 일들로 바쁜 한낮의 시간에
공원의 주인은 그들이다.
그들은 혼자, 굳게 다문 입으로 생각에 빠져있거나 술에 취해 잠들어있거나 종종 비둘기와 교감하는데
그때 그렇게 에워싸고 있는 초록이 얼마나 고독한 색인지... (작가노트)
